Congressman John Lewis

The Consciuos of Congress

We lost Congressman John Lewis a true American hero. The Congressman devoted his life to making America the country it promised to be for all Americans. Not only was he was a champion of civil rights he was a champion for human rights as well.

It was 1968

I learned of John Lewis when I was a boy. I did not know who he was or what his value would be to this country but he walked with Dr. King. Any man that shared space with Dr. King in my eyes was special. I would never have envisioned John Lewis’s journey and the number of doors he would open for me.

There will be a national day of mourning for him. Trumpets will blow, flags will fly, speeches will be made and we will all cry.  However, the tears we shed will not be for John Lewis they be for the country. We have lost a national treasure.

He born to sevre

God gave John Lewis his assignment when he was ten years old. He was obedient to his call to become a servant of the people. He was blessed in his life to fulfill his purpose with the bravery of a lion and the humility of a lamb. He proudly carried us on his shoulders.
